Da Nang and My Son (two days)

DA NANG We are a young family (with primary school aged children) and needed a tour that would be fun for the children and still interesting for us. We had a fantastic tour of Da Nang with our guide Lam (the best tour guide you could hope for!). We were collected from our accommodation in Hoi An in the morning and after the trip to Da Nang we had local coffee and a trip to the market. It was great to get away for a bit from the touristy areas in Hoi An, and Lam was great helping us buy some things at the market that we needed. We then went to see the impressive and beautiful Lady Buddha and temples at Monkey Mountain. Afterwards we went to the beautiful and sacred site of Thuy Son (water mountain, of the five mountains named for the elements “Ngu Hanh Son”). The site is known also as Marble mountains. We explored the caves and temples and took many beautiful photos, it was breathtaking. Lam provided so much interesting information about the sites and had a lot of fun with the children, which was great because if the children aren’t interested tours can be hard work! He also recommended a great place for lunch in Da Nang. I would recommend this tour if you are staying in Hoi An – it’s close by and had some unmissable sites to see. MY SON We were not sure if we would take another tour from Hoi An, but after our fantastic tour of Da Nang we asked if Lam could take us to My Son later in the week. Luckily he was available, and we took a half day trip to My Son (beautiful mountain). This tour was completely different, exploring the remaining ancient ruins of the Champa people from 4th to 13th century. Our tour was scheduled by the company for an afternoon departure which was ideal, as by the time we arrived at My Son it was almost deserted and we avoided all the bus loads of tourists from the morning. It was also much cooler to walk around. Our children really enjoyed this tour and learnt so much about the champa people and the war which destroyed so many of the temples 40 years ago. Because we were there later in the day we could take so many photos of the ruins with no other tourists in the way!! Lam is a wonderful guide, and our children were sad to say goodbye at the end of the day. He is very professional and kind, and his friendliness made our tours so enjoyable. THANK YOU! We would definitely recommend travelers consider tours of Da Nang and My Son, not just Hoi An, as they are all so different and represent different parts of the history and culture of the area. — Traveller: samkmb from Tripadvisor

Great Da Nang & My Son Tour with Duy & Trum

We had a amazing day visiting Da Nang and My Son with a couple of wonderful guides, Duy and Trum. They were very attentive and informative, attending to all our needs with great patience . We loved the places they showed us and they paid great attention to our 2 young teens , answering many, many questions . Other than the actual sites , we got a lot of insight into the history , distinct culture and day to day life in this wonderful region. Our family had lots of fun and will remember the day fondly . Many thanks to the team and looking forward to our next trip with this team. Would recommend to all. — Traveller: austandrewg from Tripadvisor

Best day out

I was greeted at my hotel by the two most friendly funny and lovely girls Jane and Mary for a day tour of Danang. It was a big day. We started with coffee at a local coffee shop and proceded to Marble Mountain. These girls were full Of knowledge and so much fun . Our next stop was Lady Buddha where they explained some very interesting aspects of Buddhism. We proceeded to lunch of local food unique to Danang. Following lunch we took the cable car to BaNa hills. That was a great experience. All in all I had a brilliant day with these two joys. A very well organized tour .Thank you Xuan Tu and Jane and Mary. I really had a fantastic day. — Traveller: PerthNenna from Tripadvisor

Beautiful and fun-filled time with Tràm

What an unexpectedly fun time touring Hoi An with Tràm. I’ve been traveling Southeast Asia solo for 5 weeks and was looking for a good 1-day tour of Hoi An – so glad I found this group! Tràm is super sweet, full of energy, and quite knowledgeable about the surrounding area. Her English is very good and she even helped me out with my Vietnamese lessons as well. Thankfully the tour didn’t start too early, more around 10:30AM. I was picked up from my hotel in Da Nang and we rode via motorbike south to Hoi An. I highly recommend the motorbike ride – there are beautiful views and the wind whipping past you feels quite good. Late morning and midday we visited an island where carpenters and farmers live and work. We saw ships being built, how rice paper is made, and the production of sleeping mats – I was even invited to participate in the last two activities which was quite a learning experience. Tràm showed me a fantastic lunch spot and afterwards we took a ferry back to Hoi An to see the ancient town. We visited gathering spots, the Japanese bridge, old houses, and even shopped a little. Tràm was super flexible and went whichever direction I wanted to go. She was also full of knowledge about the history, building architecture, and symbolism found throughout Hoi An. We relaxed with some coffee after visiting a shop with an aerial view, and after the sun set we strolled through new and old town, snapping pictures of lanterns and trying some of the local food (Vietnamese ‘pizza’ is a first for me!). Our time together wound down and we left around 7:15 to return to my hotel in Da Nang. Although it was a 30-40 minute ride, Tràm has a love of singing like myself, so we belted out a few pop and Disney tunes at the top of our lungs which turned out to be a highlight of the day. Thanks, Tràm, for such a great time. Or as you taught me to say, Cám ơn rất nhiều! — Traveller: Matthew C from Tripadvisor

Highly recommended personalized tour

Our family of five (2 adults and 3 primary school aged children) spent an amazing day with our guide Lam touring Hoi An. We all loved the whole day, and the informal and flexible set up meant that the children could rest when it was hot and we weren’t kept to a strict schedule. Lam was very attentive to the children (who adored him) and they loved learning many new Vietnamese words and phrases. There was lots of opportunity to observe and learn about traditional Vietnamese trades and life for rural families, and we also learned a lot about Vietnamese history and tried some amazing foods. Ten out of ten, we are very grateful for the opportunity to experience Hoi An with Lam. Looking forward to our tour of Da Nang in a few days! — Traveller: Melanie B from Tripadvisor
