Great Guide for Da Nang and Hoi An!
We recently spent 5 days in Da Nang and were fortunate to find Xuan Tu (Soong To) via her website. We are 2 Aussie couples in our 50’s wanting to explore the local area and experience the local culture and cuisine. We made 3 bookings, on day one was a half day tour of Da Nang. Xuan Tu was not personally available that day and arranged for one of her guides Anthony to escort us. We visited Marble Mountain, Lady Buddha and temples, great places to visit but the weather was not kind to us and we cut the tour short. Day two and Xuan Tu greeted us in our hotel lobby as arranged, and we embarked on a 12 hour tour of Hoi An. We quickly realised what a gem we had found in Xuan Tu ! She is a charming young lady with a vast knowledge of her countries history both modern and ancient. She speaks excellent english and has a great sense of humour which made us feel instantly comfortable. Based on info she sought from us in advance, she planned a great day for us.We arrived in Hoi An and boarded a small boat booked just for us, we ventured to Cam Kim Island. We visited a boat building business and a wood carving place. We then visited 2 local families. The first where the villages oldest lady, 95 years old and her family make rice paper and noodles. We felt most welcome and had morning tea with them consisting of a hot brewed local tea and freshly baked bread. The second family were mat makers. Both families were happy to welcome us and gave us an excellent insight into family life in Viet Nam.We ventured back to the mainland an spent the rest of the day doing a walking tour at our own pace of the fascinating Hoi An. Xuan Tu took us to Mr Son’s for a tasty lunch which was really cheap, about $15 AUD for 4 of us.We spent the rest of the afternoon exploring then had dinner at a famous baguette resturant which is a must. On the third day we booked the seafood night. Some of the food was rather adventurous for us but an excellent night. In short Xuan Tu delivered the perfect experience for us, made us laugh, and we thoroughly enjoyed her company and now consider her a friend. Fantastic guide, tour, experience
I stumbled across this tour site and guide Xuan Tu (Pronounced Song 2) when trying to find a way to spend a day in the Hoi An area. Unfortunately we only had 1 day to look around this part of Vietnam so naturally wanted to make the most of the time we had. When first contacting Xuan Tu I asked for an itinerary that would give us a full day including time in Hoi An. Xuan Tu came up with a plan that included visiting Lady Budy and Marble Mountain near Da Nang. I will say right now that in my opinion Marble Mountain is an absolute must see if you are visiting this area. The reviews read about Xuan Tu gave me comfort when booking her services as a guide for the day and she really was excellent. Knowledge of the locations visited, obvious passion about her country and her work and most importantly her ability to be able to communicate these 2 things made Xuan Tu a truly excellent host and guide. I would also add that Xuan Tu has a great sense of humour which allowed us all to connect with her brilliantly – We had loads of fun through out the day. So if you have a day or two in Vietnam and the Hoi An area and are looking for a guide to show you around, i don’t think you will find anyone better. Xuan Tu highly recommend her as a tour guide!
Xuan Tu was a wonderful, knowledgable, friendly guide that we hired whilst in Da Nang in October 2015, nothing was too much for her, she provided a driver each day and we discussed ideas on what we wanted to see. She speaks English exceptionally well so there were no communication problems at all and took us to some off the beaten track places to see the real Viet Nam which was a wonderful experience. MOST awesome tour guide (highly recommended!!)
Xuan Tu has been the most awesome tour guide in my travels so far. Her outgoing and fun personality helped blend in with our group of 4 guys, clicking really well with us by the mid of Day 1. Comparing to the previous trip I made to Hoi An with another local tour agent, her planned itinerary was clearly a notch above, with each moment filled with excitement and adventure! Her insights and “story-telling” for each attraction was both detailed and interesting (sun mountain, cam nam island, etc), and never fails to fill us with awe at the beauty of Vietnam. Trust her recommendations for both food and chill-out spots.. you wouldn’t regret it! She clearly has passion for people and Danang, shown by her enthusiasm and attitude. We had the great fortune of having Xuan Tu as our private guide during 2 days touring in Hoi An and Da Nang. Her expert local knowledge and easy-going, fun character made our visit a huge succeed. She planned the itinerary in such a way that we had the best of places to experience and the best of sights to see. Xuan Tu is very knowledgeable and she really loves her city.
