Excellent time with Xuan Tu
We had an excellent time with Xuan Tu (the boss). Arrangement was made last minute only the night before but email response was fast and everything sewn up quickly. Went to the usual places (my 2nd trip here), but you get the details, insights and attention not available from the typical group tours. Besides playing guide, she also triples up as photographer, translator and bargain negotiator. Gives local recommendations on shopping as well (great fixed price shops without need for the usual bargaining). We had a good time. Thank you Xuan Tu. 5 stars rating x 3 (from 3 of us). The perfect food tour of Hoi an
We had a perfect tour of Hoi An with Lam and his trainee Thinh. These young guys were generous with their knowledge of Vietnamese life and were delightful companions as we toured the streets for five hours eating street food and in small restaurants, laughing a lot and traveling at an easy pace. Lam is bright, sensitive, sincere and respectful, loves a joke and knows how to sort out IT problems (he’s an IT graduate). And, importantly, for our tour, he had sorted out some great food stops that helped to demystify the local cuisine. Lam loves his job in part, as he says, because while he is helping visitors to get to know his country, he is also helping his people to earn a living.
