Authentic and insightful private day tour of Hoi An with two cheerful locals

My parents and I did the daily Hoi An walking tour with Xuan Tu and Tommy, who are locals of Da Nang and Hoi An respectively. We really enjoyed the personal touch of this private tour and learnt so much about the history and culture of Hoi An. We took a boat ride across to Cam Kim Island, where the first stop was a woodworking village where people still constructed boats in the traditional way. We then cycled to visit a local family who showed us the art of weaving the local floor mats. The family treated us to a delicious corn and coconut juice-based delicacy, and we even had a go at weaving. Next up was a local family who’s been in the rice paper and noodle making business for several generations. Again, they were such generous hosts – even the 92 year old grandmother came out to say hello to us. After trying our hand at making the rice noodles, we were treated to a snack of rice cracker and noodles, served with a refreshing roasted red bean drink. We made our way back to Hoi An’s old town where we tried the world’s best banh mi (according to Tommy and Anthony Bourdain) and we were not disappointed. It was absolutely awesome. Xuan Tu bid us farewell for the day. Tommy took us to the Phuoc Kien Assembly Hall, the Japanese covered bridge and two heritage homes within the old city. Tommy, being a Hoi An local, is very knowledgeable. In between the sights, he took us down several small alleys and we had a well-deserved rest in a secluded coffee shop, where we had the most amazing iced coffee (mixed with Baileys and Gin). Our last stop was a local restaurant (which is again away from the crowds) which served Cao lầu (a dish noodles, pork, and local greens which is only found in Hoi An), white rose dumplings and fried wontons. I can’t wait to go on Xuan Tu’s food tour of Da Nang and day tour of Hue in a few days’ time. Based on today’s experience and my parents half day tour of Da Nang (where Xuan Tu picked them from the airport and later dropped them off at Hoi An), I would highly recommend Xuan Tu Vietnam tours for a family trip. — Traveller: wk_79 from Tripadvisor

Beautiful Da Nang

We were a family of 6 adults and got lucky enough to get Anthony as our private tour guide for 2 days exploring beautiful Da Nang. He was a great guide, spoke fluent English, was so knowledgeable about the history and always explained everything in so much detail. The first day was spent in the ancient town of Hoi An. Anthony was so flexible with how we spent our day there. Hoi An’s history is very well preserved and it was like a step back in time. We got to visit local carpentry families and even learned how to make fresh rice paper! Hoi An is known for their tailoring including custom suits/dresses, leather goods, and custom shoes made within a day! Anthony took us around Da Nang on our 2nd day to Marble Mtn, Son Tra Guan Yin Statue, and the My Son sanctuary. These historical sites were beautiful and we learned so much. Anthony took such great care of us and having him show us his hometown was the perfect way to experience Da Nang! We highly recommend him. — Traveller: Amy L from Tripadvisor

Great day full of cultural heritage and lots of laughs!

4 of my friends and I did the Hoi An tour with Xuan Tu and Lam. Xuan Tu was very informative and full of knowledge about Hoi An and Da Nang. Lam also knew a lot although he has been doing it as long as Xuan. Xuan is a ball of energy and always made us laugh. We all loved the bike riding part of the tour visiting a rice noodle house where they make all the noodles fresh everyday and also a lovely family home where they make all the colourful floor and place mats for your house. The family was so nice and taught us how to make them, made us a beautiful fresh corn soup (best I’ve ever had). The young boy that lived there was so cute and funny, he took us swimming in the river with him (up to you if you want to get in) but a time I will also remember. Xuan and Lam accommodated our every needs and wants on the tour even if it wasn’t part of the tour. They don’t stress over time or try and hurry you along to the next thing. It was great. We mentioned that it was one of our friends birthday during the tour and when they took us to this beautiful traditional tea house where we had fresh ice tea and a foot spa, they had surprised us with a special birthday cake with our friends name on it and everything. They went above and beyond for us and we loved that they cared so much!!! They do a lot of tours around Vietnam, from Da Nang right down the HCM city (Saigon) and next time we come back, and we are coming back! We will be doing another tour with them for sure! I also did the Hue tour with Xuan Tu tours, Anthony was our guide for the day and he also was very polite, smart, spoke great English and knew so much about the past 1000’s of year in Vietnamese history and culture. So all I can say is Xuan Tu tours is the best we have had in Vietnam and I’ve been here three times already!! Loved the experience and the memories with Xuan Tu and the team!! If I could give 10 stars on this I would! See you next time — Traveller: MattSymonds25888 from Tripadvisor

Great tour great peolle

We had Xuan and Lam take us on this fantastic tour. Not only was it educational and insightful, but also very entertaining. As this tour focused more on a one and one approach with the people as opposed to dragging around a large hord of people, we were able to share stories between one another and generally became good friends with the guides. Definately recommend these guys as i will be seeing them next time i visit da nang — Traveller: Ross L from Tripadvisor

Awesome tour in Danang and Hoi An

We have Tommy as our guide for half day tour in Danang and followed by full day tour in Hoi An, it was just amazing! Tommy is a nice chap and he showed us many places of interests, culture, food etc. He is also good with camera, took some nice photos for our family! In Danang, we visited Marble Mountain, Lady Buddha, My Khe beach, Dragon bridge, all beautiful sights that must visit. We also enjoyed famous frog legs noodles, delicious and cheap! The next day we visited Hoi An. Which is the highlight of this trip. The cycling around the gorgeous ancient city and boat trip to Cam Kim, we get to see the villages ie. boating building, wood handcrafting, Pho making. Our trip to these places would not be fruitful and memorable if wasn’t for him. His service is really praiseworthy. — Traveller: RS3030 from Tripadvisor
