If you are looking for a glimpse into real life Vietnam plus a walk through the old town of Hoi An then this is the trip for you! our guide Xuan Tu picked us up from our hotel and took us to Hoi An. She took us to through the food market and we tried local husband & wife cake and other foods. We walked down the riverside stalls then caught a boat across to Cam Nam Island we visited a boat building yard then headed off on bicycles through paddy fields and stopped to visit a local
Master carver, made rice paper and shared tea, sesame rice paper with the family. We also visited the temple of a well known local family, had a lesson in mat weaving and learnt how the families live from day to day. Lunch was at a local eatery & Xuan ordered a selection of foods for us to try. All were delicious! We visited the oldest house in Hoi An and a delightful tea house called Reaching Out Tea House where we enjoyed tea & lovely cookies. Xuan also bought us a super wafer type sweet treat from a street vendor. She pointed out great food places for us to come back & visit. Hoi An is beautiful and even more so when lit up at night with all the lanterns. We would not have experienced anywhere near as much by ourselves or with a big tour. This is definitely the best way to experience Hoi An and the local culture. Thanks Xuan we had the most fabulous day with you!
