My parents and I are having the most wonderful homestay experience ever at Mai’s Homestay! We have been tremendously blessed by Xuan Tu’s family in so many ways. Xuan Tu, her mother, Mrs Mai, and her cousin, Lam, had been extremely hospitable and friendly. From the moment we stepped into their house, we have felt so welcomed and at home. We are extremely impressed by their spirit of excellence in giving their best to ensure the comfort for all their guests and hosting us so well. We expected something a little more rugged however we were pleasantly surprised by the simple but beautifully furnished rooms which were clean and well equipped, just like a hotel room with a homely touch to it. When Xuan Tu asked if we slept well, my dad casually commented that the bed was a little hard and so he wasn’t very used to it. Much to our surprise, Xuan Tu actually went to buy mattress toppers for all our beds, just so that we could have good sleep in our stay here. Her effort to go beyond what is required of her truly amazes us and this is just one of the examples of how she always goes an extra mile for her guests. Xuan Tu and her family also constantly ensures that we are well taken care of e.g. Calling taxis for us, giving us useful advice, recommending places we can visit or eat at and just being available when we need any help, which is really comforting when we are in a foreign country and do not speak Vietnamese. We also enjoyed our cooking class with Mrs Mai where we learnt how to cook authentic home cooked Vietnamese food. The experience of going to the local wet market and cooking all the delicious food has been beyond wonderful. We also enjoyed the daily authentic breakfast Mrs Mai cooks with so much effort and love. We are just in the midst of our trip and to be honest, we look forward to the delicious breakfast everyday 😛 It has been the most pleasant homestay where we really feel like part of Xuan Tu’s family. We enjoy chit chatting with Xuan Tu’s family as well as Dennis and Davies (other guests) where we have learnt so much about each other’s cultures and lives. We are truly blessed to have met Xuan Tu’s family and we are looking forward to the next 2 days of immersing more into their wonderful culture. At the end of this trip, I’m sure we can really say Mai’s home is My home, for this place will always have a special place in our hearts. :”)
